Sweet, Sweet Redemption

For the past year, all I have heard from the backseat in the car is the repeated chant of "Da da"-until today. Today, it was a lovely 5 minute rendition of "Mom mom mom". Thanks P!

Warning- This is Obnoxious

Uffner Family Reunion

Now that Tom and I are back in the Pgh area, we were finally able to make it to the Uffner Annual Reunion hosted by my sister. My mom is one of 7 kids so there were lots of cousins, lots of beverage partaking, and lots of Bingo (in honor of my grandmother who was a huge bingo goer)!

Happy 4th of July Month!

( No, we did not have a hairy, second child- Teddy came along for the neighborhood parade.)

Being a little behind on my posting, here are the Independence Month pictures. Our new neighborhood had day long festivities including a parade for the kids in the morning. We decorated P's wagon and were able to meet some of the neighbors over some hot dogs and beer. Unfortunately, we missed the rest of the activities because we had to head over to my mom's side of the family for the annual family reunion. Cousins from Georgia and Ohio were in attendence at my sisters and we had a fun afternoon break from moving.

STILL Moving

This will be short, because alas, we are still moving from the rental house. We should be done this weekend, but we did run across a few hiccups along the way.

Our box spring won't fit up the stairs.

My husband, the Princeton graduate, couldn't find the dishwasher detergent I left under the sink and decided to use regular Dawn dish soap instead. I think we all know how that ended. I just wish I had photos to post along with this one...

Patrick picked last night to throw up A LOT all over the carpet in his room which we just had professionally cleaned a week and a half prior. Thank heaven for the Little Green Machine. The rest of the clean-up should have been easy- just put all P's vomit-covered clothes, my clothes, his bedding etc. in the wash- except we don't have the correct electrical outlet for our dryer yet. So instead I soaked all of the soiled clothing in the bathtub then put them into a garbage bag this afternoon for transport to the rental house washer/dryer.

Still, everyday I am so grateful for our new house (and especially being spoiled by the sprinkler system that hits every flowerbed/inch of the yard in this 90 degree/no rain weather).

Getting There

Slowly, we are getting to where we need to be for the big move Saturday (all the big pieces get moved over to join all the mini-loads Tom has been making over the last two weeks). After some professional carpet cleaning failed to remove the last lingering traces of dog smell, I went ahead and just ripped out the carpet from our master bedroom- and look what was underneath! There are a few stains that need to be dealt with later, but that's what rugs were invented for, right? I think the hallway carpeting needs to come up, but I am not prepared to tackle that quite yet.

Just this morning I finished the second coat of "Honey Tone" on the family room walls. We stuck with yellow, but just toned it down a bit from the neon yellow that the former owners had used. The paint to the left of the blue painters tape is the old, and the noticeably lighter yellow is the new color. For anyone contemplating painting, we used the Home Depot's new paint/primer in one. I give it two thumbs up- to cover hot pink and bright yellow, I only needed two coats of this stuff- not having to do the seperate primer step saved us LOTS of time and energy.

Perfect for those dreary Pittsburgh winters...
