We used to eat these for lunch in Mississippi!

Today we woke up to a blue sky, lots of sunshine, and a high temp of 50, which in Pittsburgh is about as good as you will ever get in January. We decided to take Patrick on his first zoo excursion and get a little fresh air. Turns out that when you have a lot of animals in one location, the air is not all that fresh. We did enjoy the sun on our faces though, and Patrick seemed to be entertained by the new sights-especially the elephants and fish.

Last weekend my friend Kari from D.C. came to stay with us and take in all the sights of the Burgh (this was her first trip here). We of course took her dinner at Primanti brothers (the original location in the Strip), then up the incline for the ever impressive citywide view from the top of Mt. Washington. It was fun being a tourist again and I got some much needed girl time.

Where's the Appreciation?

I feed him, bath him, rock him, change him, and play with him and what does he say ALL day long- Dada Dada Dada. I can take some joy in the fact that his FIRST word was actually Mama (I even have a witness!), but he hasn't said it since. One of my typical conversations with Patrick goes a little something like this:

That's my username on caloriecounter.com, and for good reason. It really does shake like a bowl full of jelly. I haven't had to diet since I gained the freshman 20, but I decided to give the calorie counting a shot to try and lose the stubborn last 25 lbs from my pregnancy. I have completed day 4, and am proud to say I stayed under my recommended calories for each day. Now I just need to get better about excercising.

Wish me luck! This weekend I will attempt to take a "before" shot and will post, mostly for the embarrasment factor in hopes that it keeps me motivated.
